What is a binary opposition? 

1. Make a list of binary oppositions from this Charles Dickens extract

1. Read through this document 'Everything you need to know...' and scroll down to 'Playwright's Techniques' 

2. Read through Act 1, Scene 2 text (with modern translation)  Pick out as many of these techniques as you can, (especially binary oppositions.)

There is a hairdresser on a island. This hairdresser cuts every bodies hair on the island who doesn't cut their own hair. 

Does he cut his own hair?

If, no Then there is somebody on the island who he does not cut his own hair or have his hair cut by the hairdresser

If, yes Then he cuts somebodies hair who cuts his own hair.
