Why message id only use two bytes?

When qos > 0, subscribe client will return a publish ack protocol , only the contents of the protocol is a message id. 

Although the message id can be recycled, but 65536 is not long enough.

What makes you say that 65536 is not long enough? What problems are you experiencing?
