Dear all,

If mosquitto broker needs to be accessed using the domain name then what sort changes has to be performed in the mosquitto.conf file
We tried to change the bind address property in the configuration file and mapped to IP address instead of local address is it correct.
If anyone know the broker IP address then they may have direct access to rest of the messages published in the broker.

Hi,

I am not quite clear what you are asking - do you want to restrict
specific MQTT topic namespaces to specific IP addresses?

This list is for discussion of the MQTT protocol, not specific
implementations. You should have asked this on the mosquitto list over
at https://dev.eclipse.org/mailman/listinfo/mosquitto-dev

So long as the domain name you are using is resolved from the subscriber shell, and that you have confirmed there is no filter/ACL blocking your path to the broker, you don't need to modify  the bind in mosquitto.conf.  The bind address in the conf file should be modified, if you want to hardwire a specific IP address for the broker. This will help incase your broker gets its IP from a DHCP, or have multiple interfaces on the server that is running the broker, and you want to make sure specific interface is used.
