Simple question.

A bit confused :)

MQTT Clients like PAHO MQTT client require username and password authentication when connecting to a broker.

My questions are:

For what purpose does the client provide the username and password?
Does the client sign up at first login?
Who provides the username and password?
Or should I randomly generate 2 strings as the username and password for each client?

Hi Alex,

Authentication is for security and you can have a single password for all your clients or have unique passwords for each client. The Broker you are running should be enabled for authentication and should be pre configured with a list of usernames and passwords.

Your client should be configured with any one of the username and password combination configured in the broker.

You can check the corresponding functionality in the broker you are using.
