MQTT 5

Hello Everyone,

Now i am using MQTT v3.1.1 with HiveMQ Broker and before 3days I visited HiveMQ 4 EAP Blog for MQTT v5.0.

I want to know, what are the main differences in v3.1.1 and v5.0 ? What would be better, upgrading MQTT to v5.0 with HiveMQ 4 EAP or Use v3.1.1 ?

Hi Dip,

MQTT 5 has a lot of changes which may be useful for many MQTT deployments.

If you want to learn more about the new version, there are multiple resources online, including:

If you have any HiveMQ specific questions, best wold be to directly contact the HiveMQ support.

At the moment I wold recommend to wait until HiveMQ 4 is officially released before going to production with MQTT 5 (if you’re a HiveMQ user), the EAP version is a preview version targeted at developers of libraries to ensure protocol compatibility. Also, most MQTT libraries aren’t ready for production with the new protocol version support, this will change soon, though.
