Get-together tips from the chairman

1)      The places which we are visiting on Malaysia Day 16 sept are quite crowded and have not much parking space, e.g. this charcoal kiln. So, we hope 8 buddies will volunteer to drive your cars, and the rest of us will carpool with the 8 of you and hop into your cars. thank you, in advance, for volunteering

2)      The zoo is having something special for that period. Hope we can get some benefits!

Things that we discussed on sunday 10th August:
1) apportionment of rooms. and when to pay leisure homes the balance, How many keys per room?
2) Refunding certain persons
3) T-shirts: when to wear our uniforms together.
4) Itinerary and related duties:
a) Check-in period. (Maps, addresses and GPS of all the places where we are staying, visiting and eating. Contact all these places and remind them, including the mobile karaoke.
b) Dinner at Flemington Hotel . Announcements (welcome, itinerary) getting next year's 7th committee = hope they can have early 1st committee meeting like we did
c) rooftop garden for swinging. Whom to buy cans of beer (now no more CNY discount). How many to buy
d) breakfast time and place
e) charcoal factory time and place RM5 with sweet potato
f) lunch: time and place. Fu Marn Lou 福满楼and another restaurant are by the main road. a few others have to turn into matang town, off the main road
g) shopping: Unlike melaka where we had local buddies, we ourselves are strangers to taiping (100 km from kampar) so no ordering of delicacies. we will all go to 1 or 2 places and let the buddies shop on their own, e.g. coffee powder from the historical factory in aulong, and kuala sepetang, etc
h) Matang mangrove nature park (time) take group photo with banner
i) Dinner (time) MR. BBq restaurant)
j) Taiping zoo night safari (7.45 pm) letter to get a higher group discount
k) rooftop swing again
l) Breakfast (place and time)
m) Lake Gardens  group photo)
Buddies to be reminded to bring swimming costumes for splashing in the Burmese Pool, Taiping daylight zoo, museum, sentosa villa, maxwell hill, etc.
n) Check-out from Leisure homes Give buddies half an hour to pack up before checking out.
o) Lunch
Handing over of banner ceremony Account no. of next year's treasurer, to hand over the balance
p) AOB

Registration at this Leisure Homes is between 2 -- 5 pm on monday 15 sept
dear get-together participants, there are 4 things you will need to bring along on 15th Sept, and so here is a reminder for you:
THINGS TO BRING
1) those who have already retired, (the brand newest one being Eng Gan Wah)please bring along your kad pesara. Rationale: when you buy tickets at the night safari, you will get a RM4 discount

2) CUPS
As buddies are packing your luggage for our get-together in 25 and a half days' time, do bring your own mugs to make drinks for tea. Paper cups which we are going to buy are not suitable to make hot drinks. (But as for me, i only intend to have cold or lukewarm drinks, so i am not affected)

3) bring your swimming attire, as we will be visiting the burmese pool (part of the taiping lake gardens on wed 17 sept 8 to 11 a.m., and swimming/wading in the water is optional

4) there are 2 dress codes for our evening of dinner and karaoke at the New Club at 7 pm on 16 sept.
A) the club's regulations: formal attire, i.e. shirts or COLLARED t-shirts, long pants, and shoes

our own MPTI colour theme for that night is PINK. Pink need not be a female colour. The article here shows that pink is a meaningful colour for male and female both alike:
B) Pink is the color of universal love. Pink is a quiet color. Lovers of beauty favor pink. A pink carnation means "I will never forget you".
Pink Energy
Pink is a combination of red and white. The quality of energy in pink is determined by how much red is present. White is the potential for fullness, while red helps you to achieve that potential. Pink combines these energies. Shades of deep pink, such as magenta, are effective in neutralizing disorder and violence. Some prisons use limited deep pink tones to diffuse aggressive behaviour.
Pink provides feelings of caring, tenderness, self-worth and love, acceptance.
Put some pink in your life when you want:
• calm feelings
• to neutralize disorder
• relaxation
• acceptance, contentment

please bring along your GPS too, as some of the venues/ places we are staying, visiting or eating at may not be that easy to find.
oh, sorry, forgot that some info about the cups above is wrong.  (i posted that notice 23 days ago, and forgot to edit the time). We are meeting in 2 days' time, not 25!) the leisure homes where we are staying don't provide cups, so bring along your own for coffee, 3-in-one provided by the get-together committee, ( and hopefully some original blend from 海南 仔 Chim Chin Sin)

Only 3 meals are included in the get-together package: dinners on the 1st and 2nd days, and lunch on the 3rd day. All other meals are on your own.
T-shirts will be given on registering between 2 to 5 pm, (Please wear them as our uniform for the morning and afternoon of the 2nd day 16 sept. ) There are only 9 double rooms with attached bathrooms. so, those buddies who wished to have this type of room, but have registered later than the 9th person, will have RM20 refunded to you.
we are looking for next year's 7th get-together's chairman/ chairwoman, and his/ her committee. so please volunteer yourselves on the first night, hopefully!
The 2 breakfasts on 16 and 17 sept 7 a.m. will be eaten at Prima Foodcourt
the welcoming dinner at 6 pm will be held on 15 sept, at Mr, BBQ restaurant.
After the welcoming dinner at Mr. BBq restaurant, then off we go to the night safari at 8.15 pm. remember to bring along your kad pesara
after the night safari, the night is still young, so we adjourn to the flat rooftop of bungalow no. 3, and waltz/ swing the night away with at least 48 cans of beer and 6 bottles of sparkling juice (Oh, sorry, please reserve half of these for tomorrow night's swinging)
rise and shine at 5.45 am on Malaysia Day, then queue for the bathrooms. Hopefully, we can leave by 6.30 a.m., and begin to have our breakfast at prima foodcourt at 7 am.
then off we go at 8.30 am to reacg this charcoal factory at 9 a,m. This place is somewhere in between Matang and Kuala Sepetang. And the tourist guide will bring us around to explain the processes of charcoal production, as well as providing us with barbecued sweet potatoes cooked over their authentic charcoal fires. So please don't eat so much at the Prima foodcourt, so that u may save some space for your mid-morning tea break. Thanks to Tan KA who has volunteered to sponsor this program.

we will leave the charcoal factory at 10.45, hopefully to reach the matang nature park at 11 a,m, we will take a group photo there. Please wear your maroon t-shirt uniforms

there are a few restaurants that sell seafood porridge.
so when we are there at 12.45 pm on 16 sept, buddies will fan out to different restaurants both in matang village and also along the main road outside. rationale: if all 40 of us overwhelms the same restaurant (we did not make any booking beforehand), then some of us will have to wait a very long time before we are served. However, if 10 of us visit 1 of 4 shops, then each shop is better able to give us efficient service

hope the lighthouse restaurant in matang is open on Malaysia Day so that some of our buddies can have their seafood porridge lunch there

After seafood porridge lunch, we hope to spend 2 -- 4 pm at kuala sepetang, to shop for souvenirs, dried seafood and local delicacies. we can also make our way to the site of the dismantled 1st railway line in the centre of kuala sepetang town, and take some memorable shots of the oldest Malaysian railway station signboard, though the station and railway lines are no longer there
Still on the itinerary of Malaysia Day, at 4 pm, we hope to travel back to taiping and visit this oldest coffee mill graced by Dr Sun Yat Sen (jalan assam kumbang), and shop for local delicacies there, including coffee powder, until 5 pm
and from antong coffee mill, we need to come back to leisure homes for a wash-up and get dressed in the New club dress code, collared shirt, long pants, shoes, and with 1 or more pink articles of clothing. Need to leave this place for the New Club at 6.30 pm. because dinner starts there at 7 pm.
dinner at New Club 7 pm : should dress formally in shoes, long pants, and collared shirts, not to forget something pink, shirt, or something more special to get one of the 2 best-dressed prizes
on ending our dinner at 8.30 pm in the new club dining hall, we will adjourn over to the new club karaoke, and sing, dance and swing our hearts till 1 a.m. We will also be singing Semaian Subur and 月亮代表我的心The moon represents my heart as our theme songs group singing together. You may still dress formally like what you wore at the dining hall, or u could also change into something more comfortable, but still with a pink coloured theme
then it is back to leisure homes after 1 a.m.
while some of u may go straight to bed.
others may wish to swing some more on the rooftop
till the wee hours of 17th morning?
You just went to sleep 2 hours ago? but then, sorry u need to wake up at 6, so that we may begin breakfast at the prima hawker centre, jalan manecksha, taman jambu, off jalan kota, by 7 a.m. for starting off our activities on this last day
then we will take a group photo at the entrance to the taiping lake gardens at 8 a.m. Remember to hold our banner proudly in front. we have taken a group photo yesterday with our maroon t-shirt at the mangrove nature park, so this morning, u are free to wear anything (unless of course, u love the smelly t-shirt so much and some of u are still wearing it!)
then between 8.30 to 11 a.m. u are really spoilt for choice as to what u wish to do during these 2 and half hours of "free and easy" time: you may visit this kota ngah ibrahim in matang, go back to leisure homes to take a long morning nap, or visit places in and around taiping lake gardens = burmese pool (bring your swimming attire), climb up part of the slope of maxwell hill (bring your hiking shoes), taiping day zoo, paddle boating, museum, sentosa villa, etc.

(also sending this to my wife's e-mail so that she will know what hard work i have to slog through)
