Old Wemo devices

Hi. Apologies if this has been dealt with before, but I don't keep quite so up to date with stuff as I used to.

What triggered my question is that I have a couple of Wemo Insights that physically are still working perfectly. Automation Manager has control of them and I never use the Wemo app.  I do understand that these devices are beyond 'end of life'.

So they work perfectly as switchable relays. What is annoying is that they now always report zero power/volts/amps. Anyone know how to fix this?

And of course this is, I guess a general wider problem with discontinued hardware. I have TPLink stuff doing the same.

If you have multiple and they’re doing it I suspect it’s an AM bug.  I still have an insight stored away, I won’t be able to check it until next week though.  I’ll let you know what I find (and fix it if it’s a bug).

TPLink stuff doing this as in going obsolete or as in not reporting power?  I have an MppPower device and a Kasa HS110, both still reporting power ok in AM.

Is the power not showing up in the UI or the widgets or is it in the rules engine?  The insight have a separate "power” analog value while the others all use “value” for reporting power values.  I don’t recall the insight or the tplink reporting volts or amps, the mpppower device uses 3 analog devices in AM for power/volts/amps (all using “value”).

Thanks Mike. I actually made some progress with the Wemo Insights. Firstly - it's definitely not an AM problem. And you're right of course - Insights don't do volts and amps - I'm mixing up my devices.

I did a reset on one of them and after an eternity of waiting and wading through the Wemo app resetting the wifi etc it magically started working again. So I moved it back to its proper home. Where it stopped working.  Which was annoying.

What I eventually figured is that these ancient Wemo Insights must lose 'something' when the power supply goes off. So as long as I reset them in their permanent location they should hopefully keep working until the next power outage. Unfortunately I do get frequent power supply blips so this could be a regular job. Be interesting to see if your old Insight has the same issue.

As for the Tplink I'll have to see if I can find the offending item as it will be parked somewhere in the 'probably should throw this away' box. So don't worry about that one.

Just checked my old insight – it seems to be working fine, came up after a minute or so when I plugged it in (after maybe a year or more) and registered power when I turned it own.  Unplugged and re-plugged, after a minute it came back up again and was still reporting power when turned on.
