Re Coordination Meeting on MWoP & HR Celebrations
Kalinaw!
May we warmly invite you to come to a joint coordination meeting for the activities to mark the Mindanao Week of Peace and the Declaration of Human Rights Day. As for now, the
Convenors are the City Government of Iligan thru the SP Committee on Human Rights, the Civil Society Organization-Forum or Peace and the Lanao Alliance of Human Rights Advocates, Inc., and this will be expanded during the meeting.
Date of Planning Meeting: November 15, 2012
Venue: Session Hall of the City Sangguniang Panlungsod.
Time: Meeting starts promptly at 2pm and will wind up at 5pm.
On November 29 to December 5, 2012, we will be observing the Mindanao Week of Peace (MWoP). This is in line with Presidential Proclamation No. 127 signed by former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Furthermore, we are also participating in the yearly
global celebration of the Declaration of Human Rights every 10th of December.
With the recently signed Framework Agreement by the GPH-MILF Peace Negotiating Panel, we feel peace building efforts should be given more emphasis and must be understood by all
sectors of our community.
The MWoP 2011 activities have to be geared towards bridging peoples and communities. We certainly feel that we must be together in the pursuit of peace. During the meeting we will present
the proposed (MWoP) activities for your comment. We will also incorporate the activities that you would want to be included. As a reference for this year’s theme, last year’s MWoP theme is
“COMMON WORD between Us and You: Love of God, Love of Neighbor”. However, this year’s Bishop Ulama Conference (BUC) MWoP theme is
“Love of God and Love of Neighbor, A Challenge for Mindanao”.
