First annual OSU Healthy Masculinity Conference to include award winning spoken word artist, actor, and author Carlos Andrés Gómez!
When: Thursday, May 16 & Friday, May 17

Critically acclaimed slam poet, performer, and star of HBO's "Def Poetry" and Spike Lee's blockbuster film Inside Man with Denzel Washington, Carlos Andrés Gómez, will provide the keynote at Oregon State University’s two day "Healthy Masculinity Conference 2013.”
Join Carlos and other OSU and Corvallis community members in “Exploring Masculinities,” and discovering how healthy masculinity can improve our lives. Put on by OUS’ Men’s Development and Engagement and in partnership with many other offices across campus, Healthy Masculinity Conference 2013 will provide a venue for discussion, research, and the distribution of information regarding men’s gender identity development and representations of masculinity. Key themes raised by the conference include the socialization and performance of masculinity, masculinity at the intersections, masculinity and social justice, and re-conceptualizing masculinities: man-ifesting change.
The conference is free and open to the public. OSU students, staff, faculty, Corvallis community members, activists, and anyone who is concerned or interested in dialogue on and about masculinity and representations of masculinity are encouraged to attend. Participants who register in advance here will receive promotional materials at the conference and be entered into a drawing for a signed copy of "Man Up: Cracking the Code of Modern Manhood"!
