Hey all,

If you're interested in floating with Jeremiah & Co., see below.  I can add something to his email, which is the USGS website that shows water temp data updated hourly:

Enjoy!

Schools out for summer! *rockin' out*

What: float the Willamette River
When: Monday, June 17th, 930a-5p
Where: Terminus/Michael's landing at 930a (see directions in email below)
Bring: something to float in, life jacket if in a boat, sunglasses, sunscreen, food/drink, squirt guns, water toys, towels, dry clothes, dry bags, etc.

The particulars:
Several of the MPP students are planning to float the Willamette River this coming Monday from Peoria to Corvallis. Wanna join? The more the merrier!

Looks like it'll be reasonable weather on Monday. Not too hot. Not too sunny. Not too cold. Juuuust right! http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/hdfForecast?query=corvallis%2C+oregon

For floating the river, pretty much anything will do. I'm bringing an inflatable raft but you can bring inner tubes, kayaks, canoes, rafts, logs lashed together, whatever.  You can rent inflatable kayaks from Peak Sports or OSU's Adventure Leadership Institute 541-737-4254. I used to get big inner tubes from Les Schwab Tire Centers but you could probably also get them from Beggs Tire & Wheel in town. Big 5 and Bi-Mart also sell those inflatable kayaks and tubes and such. Or you can just float the river in a life jacket (I've done that many times)!

At any rate, here's the Peoria->Corvallis float plan (http://willamettewatertrail.org/itineraries/peoria-to-corvallis/). Let's meet up around 0930 Monday morning in the Michael's Landing/Terminus parking lot (directions here: http://goo.gl/maps/Y3HK0) just out front of the main Terminus entrance. We'll need at least one shuttle vehicle left at the Michael's Landing takeout so we can get back to Peoria to pick up the other rigs but better to leave as many rigs at the takeout spot as we can and cram as many people into fewer rigs to get to Peoria.

Plan put in around 10am, lunch at Kiger Island (build a fire, roast some hotdogs, drink some cold beer, whatever), then back on the river around 1pm, back to Corvallis around 5pm (probably earlier than that). Grab shuttle rigs. Hugs and see-ya-laters!

I'll have a trailer with my inflated raft strapped down. We can throw gear and strap down other flotation thingys to the trailer, too. I'm bringing several life jackets, a large cooler (full of ice), some beer, probably a small grill for brats/burgers/veggie-patties, sunglasses, towels, dry clothes, etc. I'm not planning on bringing by shotguns but might consider bringing shots of brown liquor and my throwing axes. So bring whatever you'd like! :)

Concerns about whitewater safety? This trip is uber safe. In fact, this section of the river is - as described on the Willamette River Trail website - "mostly flat water" and "good for the whole family". Me, my wife and two little kids have floated this section of the river dozens of times. No issues. Just wonderful fun!

If you need to call me, my cell is 541.207.8105. Email me if you plan on going so we know to expect you at Terminus in the morning.

Looking forward to being on the water!

Cheers,
Jeremiah Osborne-Gowey
