Hello everyone, I am trying to conduct a factor analysis but I have nested data (I have data repeated for the 6 chimps males and for each vocal bout) then, I was reading that in order to consider the random effects in these kind of models, I need to do a multilevel factor analysis and I read that Mplus is the appropiate way for that, however, I cannot find the function for that.

Thanks

Hi there,

MplusAutomation is primarily a wrapper around Mplus that allows you to run and examine models more efficiently through R. Mplus is good at multilevel factor analysis. If you're working in a CFA framework, I'd look at Example 9.8 in the User's Guide. If you're hoping to use EFA, check out User's Guide Example 4.5. Both can be run through MplusAutomation with runModels and then outputs extracted by readModels.

Best,
Michael

Hi Montserrat, I contributed the code to extract the parameters from EFA models, so I would be very interested to know about your experience using it, both if it works or it doesn't.

Regards!
Daniel
