AWS IAM user for desktop access?

I have the impression that somehow, on AWS, you can make an "IAM user" that will store a key on your desktop, allowing for logins from a specific machine without using an authenticator app. But I can't figure out how to do it from the AWS documentation.

 

Is this actually possible? Has anyone here done it?
