Subtitles in Margin (overlay, Black border)

This player has all the features i need and like, but i cant get it to
view the subtitles in the margin.

the options that i tried in mplayer.cnfg:
vf=expand=0:-80:0:0
and
ass-use-margins=yes
ass-bottom-margin=yes

seem to crash the loop.avi in the menu.... ( i am not sure)

and i failed loading the black bars dynamically after the movie
started.

if anyone got it working (preferably, that subtitles will always use
whatever space isnt used by video)
pls tell me how to do it

If you're on an old version, use vf-add instead of vf.
ass-bottom-margin is an integer value, and neither options will help
your case.
