unless you have found fitts' law experiment java code in the internet that you plan to copy, i wouldnt see a reason not to go for processing :-). it makes your life easier, not harder.
you can also use java + processing as a library if this is your question. sure its possible. its shown in older slides how to do this. of course you are not forced to use processing at all though.

I'm a bit confused by exercise 1.1: "Also give one examples of a pointing task where Fitts' law does not apply and explain why!"
Do we have to find one example, which is not usable because Fitts' Law obviously wasn't considered? Or should we explain an example where the opposite of Fitts' Law is the best design decision?
