Dear All,
Johar!
This is a call for papers for Samvaad – a tribal conclave on the theme”Coming together for social change".
Samvaad was started as a tribal conclave in 2014, where more than 1500 tribals from across the country showcased their cultural heritage and the novel experience of tribal life. All the subsequent editions of Samvaad met with resounding success with the participation of more than 3,000 scholars, thinkers, artists, development practitioners, and activists – both from the tribal as well as non-tribal communities – from more than 20 states across the country. In the best traditions of India’s indigenous peoples, Samvaad encourages dialogue, discussion, and dissent and celebrates the very essence of being tribal. Tata Steel takes great pride in hosting this one-of-its-kind forum. Through Samvaad, we aim to bring together tribal communities and stimulate an exchange of ideas, document and preserve knowledge, understand issues that affect tribal communities and highlight models that have worked to address these issues.
An essential element of Samvaad is the Paper Presentation – a one stop portal for a researched and informed perspective on a cross section of issues of tribal development to emerge from voices within academia, practitioners and the wider communities who remain concerned with the issues. The occasion enables enhanced networking across academic and tribal fraternities to promote exchange of knowledge, cross-pollination of thought and evidence based research.
The topics for the papers are:
· Tribal culture and history as markers of social capital · Local governance by, for and of tribal communities · Community-led livelihoods and economic systems in tribal India · Influence of policy and legislation on tribal India · The tribal voice on digital platforms
We cordially invite you to participate and request you to circulate these details within your institution and beyond.
Interested research scholars, development professionals, students and institutions can send their abstract on or before 31stAugust 2018 and final paper on or before 10thOctober 2018.
Please refer to the file attached herewith for further details.
