Dear Sir/ Madam,
The Indian Institute of Public Health, Delhi (IIPH-D), established by the Public Health Foundation of India (www.phfi.org) has successfully been functioning since 2008 as one of the nodal institutions for public health education, advocacy, research and practice
by providing quality public health training to
graduates of diverse disciplines. Apart from conducting full time academic courses, we also have been organizing several short term trainings. As a part of ‘Workshop Series 2013-2014’ we are inviting applications for a four day workshop on ‘Leadership in Health and Development Sectors’ scheduled on August 5 - 8, 2014 at IIPH Delhi.
The 21st century has seen a lot of transition in the health and development sectors, with the focus being on transformative education and leadership. This reform depends on development of leadership skills and change agents. While sound managerial skills ensure results in the short and medium term, the progress of a country is shaped by managers with a vision and inspired leadership abilities. Leadership is a complex multidimensional concept; strong leadership is critical for realizing the vision of transformed healthcare and
development sectors. In these fields, leadership serves as an asset to face challenges and is an important skill to possess. In order to reach this goal, common leadership skills must be looked for among young as well as experienced professionals studying or working in these sectors.
This workshop aims to impart leadership skills to those in the health and development sectors, so as to empower them to develop robust leadership competencies to address the challenges and needs of the population. The learning objectives of this workshop are to enable the participants to:
