Greetings from Public Health Foundation of India!

 

The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) was conceptualized as a fitting response to limited institutional capacity in India for strengthening training, research and policy development in the area of Public Health. The PHFI focuses on broad dimensions of public health that encompass promotive and preventive health related services in India. One of the core mandates of PHFI is to institutionalize public health by creating Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPH) across the country. Currently, four institutes are operational, one each in Gandhinagar (Gujarat), Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh), Delhi and Bhubaneswar (Orissa), offering academic programs and training in various public health domains and are engaged in program and policy relevant research.

 

For the 2015 academic year, we are pleased to announce ‘call for applications’ for the “Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health Nutrition (PGDPHN)” for the period January-December, 2015. The program aims to provide comprehensive training in PHN in a global setting, covering a number of topics and in a range of contexts. It encompasses dietary, epidemiological, public health, social and biological aspects of nutritional science. Special topics include biostatistics, maternal and child nutrition, food policy, nutrition program planning, monitoring and evaluation, and nutritional epidemiology. This area of study is particularly suitable for professionals such as health workers, medical practitioners, dieticians, pharmacists, nurses, health educators and teachers, who are associated nutrition either directly or indirectly. Further, it is aimed at facilitating those who wish to avail themselves of contemporary ideas in human nutrition.

 

We request you to kindly circulate the brochure and application form among your professional colleagues to inform the interested and eligible candidates about the course. We sincerely hope that you will encourage students, program officers, volunteers and other technical experts to enroll in this learning opportunity. This will help us to purposefully engage in capacity building of professionals in practice of public health.
