Thinking of updating to 0.80

I am thinking of updating to MPF 0.80 in order to utilze GMC.

However, I have an older project that has a lot completed already for 0.57 and would like to not have to update all of that.

Is there a way to have MPF 0.57 for the old project and update to 0.80 for the new project I am about to start?

I have a feeling it has something to do with virtual environments. If so I would appreciate instructions on how to use them as I have no idea what it is talking about when I try to read up about them.
