So the monitor has really helped with being able to develop my game, but it would be really cool if it had a couple of other features.

1) The ability to clear the event window.
2) The ability to highlight keywords based on a typed input field.
3) A window showing active modes plus a log of modes starting and stopping.
4) Being able to record a series of switch hits for playback later, preferably from a list of saved ones.

If I had those, it would be a fairly complete development tool for me.

All good ideas!

1,2, and 3 are on the list. (Here's the complete road map list of ideas for the monitor): http://docs.missionpinball.org/en/latest/monitor/#road-map-features

I don't know about timeframe for those. Really I want to finish up the documentation that's needed for MPF in general and then spend a few weeks on the monitor. So hopefully within the next few months? I dunno.. maybe sooner. I agree that these things you mention would be great and I personally use the monitor a lot so I really want them. :)

For #4 for the switch hits, that's a good idea too. I wrote a tool awhile ago that could pull switch events out of log files to play them back. The problem now is that anything that's random in your machine will be re-randomized on subsequent runs. We wrote a Ramdomizer class a few months ago that we need to transition everything to use which can emit a random key that it used to the logs which the switch player could read in so that we get the same "random" events each time. That's another one on the to do list. :(

I also really want to get the documentation written which explains how to write automated tests which will probably be really helpful.

Is there a way to fill the trough automatic with a set amount of balls?
Currently I always have to insert three balls by right-clicking the troughs switches every time I start mpf.
