After trying many different things to get v0.57 to install and run, I replaced the SSD on my machine and did a clean Windows 10 Pro install.  I applied all updates and the VS Build Tool to install the C++ compiler needed.

Note: This is the same hardware my P3ROC game runs just fine on v0.54.  I took a clean image backup so I can try different things and revert to square one without any cross-contamination.

Since v0.57 is the long-term stable release, I'd like to help identify whatever needs fixing so others can have a straightforward process that works.

My first attempt (output attached) failed on the mpf-mc install.  My 2nd attempt (also attached) started with me upgrading pip and installing setuptools.  That installation succeeded but "mpf both" failed due to missing modules.  It also generates annoying warning messages re: pkg_resources

As I said, I'll be glad to re-run the install with your suggestions from scratch until it runs clean.

These are some instructions I wrote up.  Not sure if it's 100% efficient with the C++ build tools, but this is the process I use:

Max -

Thanks for the response.  I'm not familiar with VPX or MPF-VPX Bridge, so I'm not sure how to install them.  Are they new for 0.57?  I'm hoping to get enough information to not only get my installation working but to provide enough details to update the installation documentation.  If someone familiar with the installation packages can look at the output the "standard" procedure generates, maybe the version mismatches can be fixed.  It would also be good if the deprecated "pkg_resources" (seen in my 2nd attempt) can be avoided when building MPF.

Also, it's weird that installing MPF-MC actually breaks MPF, as seen in my first attempt.

You can ignore the final 2 VPX steps.  These are instructions for a development environment that uses Visual Pinball X for simulating the game hardware.
