Carousel - Auto-Highlight item

I am looking through the carousel doco and can't see a way to auto-highlight an item. Currently, my carousel always defaults to the first item in the selectable items list but I'd like to auto-highlight the last item selected for the player. Is this possible, or do I need to move from carousel to achievements and use the select_events option on an achievement?

Afaik the carousel mode currently lacks such a feature. Feel free to add it if you need it. We take PRs.
