After some research, I've verified the following:

atID: Artist ID. This uniquely identifies the Artist in the "©ART"
atom. Note that on TV Shows, the Artist is recorded as the full name of the
show (e.g., "The West Wing"). Also note that on Movies, the Artist is the
director.

plID: Album ID. This uniquely identifies the Album in the "©alb" atom.
Note that on TV Shows, the Album is recorded as the full name of the show
_and_ the season (e.g., "The West Wing, Season 5"). Note that this atom is
absent from Movies from the iTunes Store. Note that this value may be set
to 0 (zero) on Music Videos.

For files from the iTunes Store, these values are duplicated in embedded
plist and can be cross-referenced there.

Also, AtomicParsley reports stik "5" as "Whacked Bookmark". I do not know
of ever encountering anything so tagged.

This is used in iTunes on the pull down where ratings are. The 2 values it
wants in this pull down are cnID and geID. Without the values it makes
guesses. geID does not have to match genre.

To me it looks like the rtng tag is not 2 (CLEAN) and 4 (EXPLICIT) but 1
(EXPLICIT) and 2 (CLEAN). Can someone confirm?

There may be an 'fcID' as well, relating to a studio or TV Station... I
right clicked on a station in iTunes and got:
http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewRoom?fcId=270066278
for CTV, a Canadian broadcaster.

Editing a purchased .m4a file's "purchased by" tag really is easy but what

Comment by jake.wak...@gmail.com:

It appears that some metadata is handled differently. For example, actors,
directors, producers, and screenwriters are encoded into an xml format. You
can see this in by using Atomic Parsely to examine a file, and in
[https://github.com/griff/metaz/blob/develop/Plugins/AtomicParsley/src/AtomicParsleyPlugin.m#L871-L873
these lines] of the MetaZ source code you can see the dictionary being
converted to XML. The rest of this file, especially starting from line 635
shows other pieces of metadata that are handled specially.
