I am trying to help someone be able to view video from his security
cameras. His business was robbed and he needs to get useable video to
the police. It produces files with a ".264" file extension. From what
I've been able to find, this is raw video that needs to be encapsulated
for something like mp4. I found your site as something that should be
able to convert it and I downloaded it. However, I don't know how to run
the unzipped downloaded files to install the program. I am running
Windows XP Pro. I have been a programmer since 1973 but it has been
mostly mainframe. Any help in getting this done would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks.

I believe you can playback raw H.264 with VLC if you simply change the
extension to .h264 instead of .264. I'd try that. If that doesn't
work, it's not too difficult to re-mux into an MP4 container, but VLC
is going to be the easiest route for this sort of thing.
