Impossible with mod?

Hi there!
I'm very enthusiast on this project!
What I would like to do with Elgg is to provide separate groups of
users (users from group A can't see users from group B) and be able to
put groups in "big" groups (Group A and B include in Group 1 for
example).
It seems your hack can't do that for the moment (am I right?), do you
plan to do it?
Why an Elgg mod couldn't be that? It's only restrictions access to
implement, right?
I'm ready to participate in your project if you want!
