Hi All,

Does anyone have experience using Mozzi with the WM8960 audio codec?

This breakout board works well with the ESP32. I’ve wired up and tested the examples from Sparkfun’s library and all good so far.

Next I would like to generate some audio from Mozzi and route it to the DAC on the WM8960.
It looks like there are several ways to do this, but I will need to study both libraries further before I can attempt it.

Curious if anyone else has worked on this already.

All the best,

Matteo

Hi All,

Just reporting back that I have been able to use the WM8960 as external DAC with an ESP32 and Mozzi.

I used the library from Sparkfun to configure the audio codec over I2C on setup, so that the codec reads from the DAC and routes the audio to its class D amplifier.

Then I connected the 3 pins of the DAC to the ESP32 in the same way as one would connect the PT8211. Works like a charm.

Next I will look at reading from the microphone input of the WM8960. Should be able to do full duplex.

All the best,

Matteo Marangoni
