Hello,

I had created a bunch of test cases and assigned them to a Version, which had an out-dated set of environments. I created a new environment profile, and then created an applicable test run.  However, the out-dated environments were still the only ones showing when I went to start the run.  The only (or at least easiest) workaround to get the test environments updated was to delete that Version and create a new one. (Note: I see now that I should have created a new version and not deleted the old one.)  I was then able to populate all the current environments, and when setting up the run everything looked perfect.

However, when I initiated the run NO test cases were populated.  Even worse, it appears all the cases I've written for this product have been deleted when looking in the Cases section. However, looking at the Suites still shows in parenthesis the cases that were there [for example: Product Shutdown (2 Cases)]. But when I click on "(2 Cases)", no cases appear. I also tried changing the environment name back to what it was, but that didn't help.

It seems insane to me that such a simple change can wipe out all the test cases! Our company's programmer is looking into retrieving them, but he didn't think it would be easy. So I'm posting this here in case anyone has advice on retrieving such cases.  We're using a version of MozTrap installed about 1 month ago, so it's probably the latest version. Also, I've been told that we don't have backups on this server.

In any case, hopefully there is a reasonable way to retrieve those cases (which took weeks to write) and get them back into an environment. Any help will be much appreciated.

Okay, the programmer was able to retrieve those cases. Apparently when they were deleted, they're not actually removed from the database but instead flagged as deleted (or given a deleted status).  So it sounds like he un-flagged those cases and was able to place them into the current product Version.

And now, happily, I'm seeing all the cases again.  Anyway, I wanted to note this here in case anyone else makes a similar misstep...

Also, the MozTrap team should perhaps consider a warning prompt when deleting a Product Version letting the user know that this will in fact delete any test cases written with that Version selected.
