2010 Delhi Twestival Rocked In Style

Galvanized Twitter Community to Raise Money and Awareness for Concern Worldwide

New Delhi, March 29, 2010 – On March 25, 2010, Delhi geared for its second “Twestival” Global,a grand celebration of its culture and community spirit.Delhi showed the world that it has more than just politics and history with Twestival Delhi – Rock Concert, Stand-Up Comedy act and Party too! The stars of the evening performing at the concert were the progressive - glam funk Indian underground band – Five8. Organized at the Café Morrison in South Extension Part-II Market, New Delhi from 6pmTwestival Delhi saw Twitter users of Delhi coming together to raise funds for the underprivileged across the globe with the help of Concern Worldwide.

Twestival happened across more than 175 cities around the world, thousands of people demonstrated social media’s power for social good through the second annual Twestival. The global event is a worldwide fundraising initiative that uses social media, particularly Twitter, to focus participants’ talent and resources to benefit one cause for one day. All proceeds generated from the 2010 Twestival will support education and be donated to Concern Worldwide, a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organization that since 1968 has dedicated itself to reducing suffering and eliminating poverty.

Delhi Twestival, started on a bright note with MakeMyTrip India Pvt.Ltd donating on the spot, through their CSR.A Real-time Twitter-wall,along with Bluetooth-enabled printer and Netbooks with USB Internet sticks provided the much needed glue for participants to be involved right from the word go.Mohak Prince(Organizing Lead,Delhi Twestival) opened the session Introducing people with their Twitter names in lieu of their real names as this was the Twitter festival.

Sandeep Aurora(of Intel India) brainstormed on 'Education beyond classrooms' - an initiative of Intel, interacting with audience,Sandeep touched upon various thoughts on Education and problems persistent with Classroom teaching which had many participants voicing their opinions.Delhi Twestival had the Theme of 'Share your EDUCATION story' which got so many responses and even a student who gave his 12th Boards Exam the same day, asking for suggestion on how he could use 'Twitter' for himself

Rajneesh Kapoor,Standup-Comedian enthralled the audience, leaving them in splits with his observations regarding Twitter and public behaviour which was followed by a break, used by participants to interact, network, chat and tweet as Delhi Twestival was a sober,alcohol-free affair.Tweeples(Twitter users) were heard talking about how easy it was for them to appreciate such a cause,as Delhi Twestival was quite unique with not charging even a single penny from the attendees and raising funds from sponsorships.

Five8, Progressive Glam Rock five-member band crooned some of the finest numbers, playing some of the popular cover versions with tweeples headbanging to the same.Five8 even donated some their tracks for fund-raising to Twestival FM(The Artists arm of Twestival Global).Five8 generously agreed playing for Delhi Twestival on a pro-bono association extending their support to the cause of EDUCATION

Delhi Twestival concluded on a high note, raising more than 1000 US $ and more than 70+ attendees being away from 'Official Attyachar'  and giving their weekend an EARLY Start with even providing thought provoking ideas though on a fun basis.Delhi Twestival even echoed their concerns for the environment by urging attendees to switch off the lights on the occasion of EARTH HOUR observed on 27th March,8:30-9:30pm.

Delhi Twestival 2010 was privileged to work with social conscious brands such as Intel India(Major Sponsor) and HP Imaging & Printing Group(Supporting Sponsor),One 97(Supporting Sponsor), Text 100 (our official PR partner) and others who have come forward to help us make this a successful event.Gift Vouchers from Maximum Store(Gifting Partner) & Myntra(Merchandising Partners) made sure, everyone remembered the spirit of 'Tweet,Meet,Give'.
