Hi, makers! So as discussed on the Webmaker call today, we're introducing an exiting new feature to Popcorn Maker - media sequencing. After a ton of awesome work, we now have this staged on our dev server. You can try this right now at:

http://popcorn-dev.rekambew.org/

Just click on the "start a project" as you normally would, but you'll see that the media tab now has the option for you to add media from Youtube, Soundcloud, Vimeo and HTML5 media. This media will then appear as clips you can add to your sequence. Wicked! Popcorn Maker is now an editor!

OUR 1st ASK TO YOU:
Make a Harlem Shake Video

These goofy viral videos are perfect to test this new functionality, because they require 2 pieces of media to be aligned in order to make a new creation. So our ask is that you remix some of these prime examples of fun that Mr. Jacob Caggiano has created:

Harlem shake:
• On a treadmill - http://org.webmadecontent.dev.popcorn.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/13
• On a Russian VIP car - http://org.webmadecontent.dev.popcorn.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/12
• On a speedboat - http://org.webmadecontent.dev.popcorn.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/z
• On fire - http://org.webmadecontent.dev.popcorn.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/11
• With a large fish - http://org.webmadecontent.dev.popcorn.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/10

Each of those creations will have a remix button - hit the remix button, add your own youtube video, and then get famous. Note that the epic money moment is exactly 16 seconds in. Your creations will work better if something incredible happens at that point.

Post your creations here on the list by replying to this thread. Best creation gets a personal harlem shake dance by Mark Surman, a huge high five, access to a top secret etherpad, and the satisfaction of helping improve this product.

OUR 2nd ASK TO YOU:
If you find bugs (hint: you will!) please add them to this ticket:
https://webmademovies.lighthouseapp.com/projects/65733-popcorn-maker/tickets/3232-QA-Add-your-bugs-for-Sequencer-Dev-instance-here

QA really helped us with our major releases before MozFest, we're hoping our community can help us again here.

Happy making!
Brett

This is wonderful. I am working with a class of students to use Popcorn for the final projects and this feature was requested. So cool!!

Ah! Thanks, Emily!

So as far as "cutting" the first 3 seconds, thats great usability feedback. Currently you select the clip and tell it where to start in its editor. Kate Hudson, our UI/UX genius, is improving that for our next release.

As far as getting the player to "stop", simply add a pause event from the timeline.

I think as we get used to these features, we'll design projects that make this easier. Some feedback I'm receiving generally is that while we are perceiving Popcorn Maker's interface to be straightforward, lots of users find the interface daunting still. Much to iterate on!

I didn't do a harlem shake, but it's still a sequencer test case. Also,
