Hi ,
Mozilla is partnering with Open Hatch <
http://campus.openhatch.org/> to
bring 'Open Hatch Comes to Campus' to a group of Computer Science Students
at the University of Victoria on October 18th. We'll be focusing on basic
on-boarding to open source focused on Mozilla Webmaker development and
community. Open Hatch has run many successful events in the US, and this
is the first one in Canada.
I'm hoping some among you would be interested in helping me mentor at this
event, helping mentor students through things like using IRC, pull
requests and tackling 'first bugs'. Also if you don't code, that's also OK
- open source has many layers that don't involve coding at all - and your
insight will still go a long way.
If you can't be there in person, I am also investigating options for remote
participation/mentoring.
If you are interested, please respond off-list.
Thanks so much,
-Emma
ps We'll be sharing our work back as Open Hatch 'training missions' for
contributing code to Webmaker, so others interested in running a similar
event (or learning on their own) will have this as a new resource :)
