appcache to ServiceWorkers conversion?

Is there somewhere a HOWTO for more-or-less happy developer
using appcache in his app to convert to ServiceWorkers? Whole
thing seems to be too complicated for my little brain.
Why should I give up rather simple appcache with one file and do
it myself in long long set of JavaScript functions?
