docker-worker has been deprecated internally for quite some time.
Nonetheless, we continue to develop it, either fixing bugs, adding
support for more cloud providers, or improving the deployment process.
The problem is docker-worker development got messy, because "it is
going away soon", but it never does.
In 1x1 with :coop today we came to an agreement of no longer treat
docker-worker as a deprecated project, but at most, as feature frozen,
until we have a replacement for it.
To begin improving docker-worker, I filed two bugs [1,2], to provide a
staging area to test newer versions before production deployment and
create a new deployment automation process.
Another thing that comes to mind is the concept of development and
stable branches to make it easy to deploy security fixes faster.
