To further improve the security and safety for our Firefox users we
decided to no longer support the "marionette.enabled" preference for
Marionette. So far this preference was used for various things like
enabling Marionette via a pre-configured profile. But it also had
side-effects that put risks on our users, like continued daily usage of
a profile that was used by Marionette once.
That means that when Firefox should be started with Marionette enabled
the "-marionette" command line argument has to be specified beside the
Firefox binary, or the "MOZ_MARIONETTE" environment variable has to be set.
The patch landed via bug 1593343 [1] and will be shipped with Firefox 88.
If you encounter problems due to this change please let us know.
Best,
Henrik
