Hi

I recently moved from Outlook to Thunderbird

There is a feature that is not in Thunderbird (or at least I cannot
find it or use it if it does exist), that would be really helpfull and
powerful to have.

Feature Required:
Editing of the Subject of received mail.

Usage:
Usefull for finding old filed mails quickly. Helps to 'organise' mail
for later reference.

When one receives a mail with no subject on my add it, or for example
you are screening candidates and is receiving a lot of CV's, you do
not want the subject of every CV to be "CV", but can now edit it to
read say "CV - Smiley Joe" etc.

Please is there some way we can add this feature?

Thanks

The way I do it is to press shortcut key 5, which means to mark the
email for later reference.

I could do a search find emails in all mailboxes that have such emails.
I could even save the search as a "search folder", that when I go to
that folder, all emails marked as for later references are displayed
together in a 'virtual' folder.

Make a subfolder, and Move the CVs there. Advantage: when the task is
done, you can delete the whole folder. See below.

Not that I know of. Maybe some kind soul will build an add-on, or some
developer will think it's worth working on.

Me, I use two methods for storing mail and news posts:

a) I have created a number of folder trees within TB, eg, Family[Peter,
Paul, Mary...], and Move mail into those folders as I read them.

b) I have created folder trees outside TB and Save As archival mail there.

A comment on storing mail:
The ease of storing electronic mail (and digital pictures) tempts us to
keep everything. But most mail is not worth archiving. Most business
mail for example is relevant for a week or two, some for a couple of
months, very little for more than a year. If it's important for tax
purposes, etc, you should print a hard copy anyhow. So for me,
organising current mail storage is not a problem, and the kind of add-on
you want isn't an issue.

cheers,
wolf k.

Thanks!

The "modify header" plugin really works fine!
