Hello,
I'm using the latest version of Thunderbird 2. I received an email
with 6 attached file, totaling about 6 MB of data. I saw it at the
Inbox, and I dragged it over to a folder, and the email disappeared. I
have Copernic installed, and when I search for the file, it's found
twice: in the Inbox and in the folder I dragged it into, but I can't
see the file in neither folders. Through Copernic, I can see the
email, it's attachments, but I cannot see it in Thunderbird. Another
strange thing is that, if I forward the email through Copernic, it
opens the new email with it's attachments and everything, and when I
try to send the forwarded email, it opens a window saying that it's
"Attaching ...", and it stays like that forever... Is there anyway I
can see this message in my Inbox? What might be wrong?
Thanks in advance...

right click on that Inbox folder > properties > Rebuild Index.
right click again > compact.
Restart Thunderbird.

Nir,

If someone has lost a file in a folder, it is NEVER a recommendation to
compact the folder. That will remove ANY chance of recovering the file.
In a recent discussion, I gave a link that provided a way to recover
files that no longer show up in a folder, providing the folder has not
been compacted.

On 28/05/2007 16:16, CET - what odd quirk of fate caused Terry R. to
generate the following:? :
Terry - you may have noticed that Nir - unfortunately - has two or three
"standard" solutions:
Safe Mode
New Profile
delete *.msf (rebuild, compact folders)
irrelative of the problem.... often, the problem is clearly described by
the OP and a solution also obvious, but "New Profile" is there, before
you can blink!

I think you meant 'email' :) because attachment files are saved as a
part of mail within mbox file.

No doubt your idea is good but as far i know compacting can result in
deletion of message only if it has already marked as deleted. No effect
on any other message .
