I am on a Mac and everytime I click an attachment and they open with
Preview, Excel, Word, or whatever app Thunderbird saves them to the
desktop. This is annoying and can this be avoided? I also use Mac Mail
and Outlook 2011 and none of those apps treat attachments this way. Thanks..

The Bible Way to Salvation is to realize that You are desperately wicked,
(Rm 3:10) you are a sinner, (Rm 3:23) God has a price on sin, (Rm 6:23)
and that
price is death in Hell (Isa 33:14). But you can be saved
if you repent (Lk 13:3) before its too late. Learn more

In TB Preferences, select Attachments, select Incoming, at the bottom
of the panel are your choices on where to save files.

No Thunderbird temp folder for attachments like how other mail clients work?

I already replied to your message this morning but
mozillz.support.thunderbird seems to reject my messages since February 19th.

So I try again with a copy & paste of my previous reply:

I posted a solution last year in this thread:

Thank you so much my friend as I was able to change the destination
folder to private/temp under the Mac's root directory.
