It's useful to be able to insert a table in an email, but I can't figure
out how to add an extra row part-way through an existing table? Can't
find it in Help or Google.

When you click in a table cell, you will see a little symbol just to the
left of the table cell which looks like: an x in a circle with an
upward-pointing triangle above it and a downward-pointing triangle below
it. Something like this:

Click the upward-pointing triangle to insert a new row above the current
table row.
Click the x in a circle to delete the current table row.
Click the downward-pointing triangle to insert a new row below the
current table row.

Sorry to jump in, but is there a way to delete the table formatting but keep the data?

Highlight all the data, CTRL+C to copy. Right-click somewhere to put
the data and choose Paste Without Formatting.

Forgot to say: then delete the table

You can use the free program PureText too tho' I mostly find it useful
for web page content. PureText lets you define a key stroke for its use.
I use CTRL-0 (zero).

Ctrl-0 is normally reserved to return textzoomin/out to the original size.
Ctrl-+ (Plus) and Ctrl-- (Minus) zoom in and out, and Ctrl-0 returns you
to the default size of the page/email/window. This works in TB, Firefox,
SeaMonkey and other non-Mozilla products as well.

You should probably choose a different keystroke.

You have a point but it's really not much of a problem since before
CTRL-0 is used, an editor window will have been opened, like MS Word, so
that the text can be inserted without affecting the browser window.
CTRL-0 can be used in PureText to remove formatting in the memory
without actually inserting the copy once the cursor is outside the browser .

Can I also add my rationale for CTRL-0: the 0 key on the numeric
keyboard on my machine is also marked Ins and this reminds of the
necessary keystroke.

Sorry to keep harping on about this but I just tried the effect of
CTRL-0 in Internet Explorer. CTRL-0 using the 0 of the regular key board
does return the text to the original size but CTRL-0 with the numeric
pad does not.

That may be something specific to Internet Explorer (numberpad key not
working), as I just tested it with Firefox. After enlarging/zooming a web
page, Ctrl-Numberpadzero does return me to the default size.

I don't use Windows, so no IE to test...

XPsp3 IE7 - guide^1 for shortcuts say that numberpad +, -, and 0 are
supposed to work as above; BUT, numberpad 0 does not work as it should.

Of quaint interest is MS removed its information about IE7 shortcut keys
(replaced with advice to upgrade OS & IE), so I used this .pdf/html as a
reference source:

Ctrl-NUMPAD_0 will return you to default font size BUT you have to have
the NumLock key ON. If it is off, it won't work.

If the numlock is off, the numpad + and - won't work (in the first place).

Neither of those keys fits into the equation anyway, so no biggie.

But...

I gather that your report on some other Win version and some other IE
version than my reported XP IE7 *does* work with numpad 0 (if the
numlock/numpad are ON), as opposed to my report that it doesn't.

Which Win IE are you reporting?

Sorry, I have no idea what you are talking about. I simply commented
that in my setup (which is Win7 & Firefox), if the NumLock key is OFF,
then the editing keys of the numerical keypad will be in effect - thus
Ctrl-0 will NOT return you to the default font size. And, that if the
NumLock key is ON, then it will work, as the keys are now set to
numerical. I said nothing about IE (which I haven't used for decades).

And that's about as far off-topic I care to go.

I'm using Windows 7 and IE 11 and I have PureText enabled with num lock on.

CTRL-0 (top line) does return expanded text to standard, CTRL-0 (key pad
with Num Lock on) does not. I don't want to switch off PureText so
that's as far as I am going for now.

Thank you, Ralph -- I just knew there would be an almost-obvious way of
doing it. I've always known that the cross deletes the row, but the
purpose of the triangles had never dawned on me.

Vista sp2 IE9

numpad on: ctrl + works, - works, 0 does NOT work. Ctrl-0 on the
'number row' doesn't work either.

Guide says it should:

http://www.shortcutmania.com/Internet-Explorer-9-Keyboard-Shortcuts.htm
Using zoom

Ctrl+Plus Sign Increase zoom (+ 10%)
Ctrl+Minus Sign Decrease zoom (- 10%)
Ctrl+0 Zoom to 100%

The Vista laptop machine's keyboard required the use of Fn NumLock to
enable the numpad.
