Remind me how to do this as it keeps telling me to set Outlook as default
when TB is already default.

The easiest way to get around that is to locate your saved .doc file and
then right-click on it, choose send to => mail recipient. TB should come
up with the file already attached. That's what I do here.

That doesn't work for me. Nothing happens.
If I try from an open Word file I get some spiel about using Microsoft
Exchange to set Outlook as my default.

I just now managed to do it by making Outlook my default client then
closing it and opening Tbird with it set to check that it is default.
However I had to do that three times before it finally worked.
Hope that helps somebody.

The registry entry that holds default mail client info seems to be
corrupted.
To fix it, just set Tb as default client using any of the methods
suggested here
"http://kb.mozillazine.org/Default_mail_client#Windows"

Please read his response as he already fixed it by making OE the default
and then loading TB and re-making that the default after which it worked.

Thanks Jay. I guess OP might haven't felt offended for my post on cause
of this issue and additional methods to fix it :-)

Support answers although repetitive sometime are never offensive AFAIK.
