When I use this command Thunderbird starts and after that the compose
window. Is there a command that starts only the compose window?

I just did a test, and these works for me:
"start mailto:em...@address.com" - to open window and insert recipient
"start mailto:" - to open window without recipient

They both work anywhere from the command line (without paths),
presumably as Thunderbird is my default client, in which case they MIGHT
even work with Outlook etc... but I cant check!

On 08/03/2007 00:43, CET - what odd quirk of fate caused Lord Zoolook
to generate the following:? :
hmmmm - spmehow, the OP got here without transport... was it crossposted??

on your desktop, COPY the Thunderbird icon
RIGHT click on the copy
select Properties
in the top entry-field (Target) go to the end, after thunderbird.exe"
type in [SPACE]dashcompose - the line should now look like this:
"D:\Thunderbird 1.5.0.8\thunderbird.exe" -compose
but with your own drive-letter and path to TB.exe!
(the SPACE after the " is very important)
click accept and OK out

To open the Compose window, just double-click on the new icon
