Greetings,
I'm using Thunderbird v45.1.1. Messages sent while offline or sent
using the Send Later option are stored in the Outbox folder of the Local
Folders account. If I remember correctly, older versions of the Mozilla
suite this used to be called the Unsent Messages folder and was a sub
folder within each separate account. I successfully created an Outbox
sub folder in an account and it shows up with the correct Outbox folder
icon, but Thunderbird still uses the Outbox in the Local Folders
account. I tried tweaking the sendlater pref to point Thunderbird to
the desired Outbox folder, but it refused to work. In addition, I was
unable to find any settings relevant to the Outbox in the Account Options.

For what it's worth, here's the syntax of the sendlater pref.

Preference Name: mail.default_sendlater_uri
Value: mailbox://nobody@Local%20Folders/Unsent%20Messages

Is there another pref I'm overlooking? Or, is it even possible to get
it working the way I wish to have it? Perhaps I'm not using the correct
syntax?

I don't think there is a way to do it *per account*, but there was a way
to customize the pref you're looking at.
Look at the value for the pref mail.identity.id1.fcc_folder as a
reference for the format. It may not be the id# you want, but if you
change the id#, you'll find the format you want.

Then you can change mail.default_sendlater_uri to
mailbox://youremailaddress/Unsent%20Messages where "youremailaddress" is
dependant on the format noted earlier.

I don't know if it still works, but that's the way it used to work.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for your help. Thunderbird is now using the modified Outbox
without flaw. It seems that I was on the right track, but didn't have
the account id value exact.
