All of s sudden today, I cannot log in to my Yahoo Mail account via TB
(v. 45.8.0). I could get in through TB earlier today, but late this
afternoon it just died.

I tried logging in right from mail.yahoo.com and could not remember the
password I used previously, so I changed it (via verification code from
Yahoo) and then logged in to Yahoo web mail directly, just fine.

I then tried it thru TB, and of course I got the same "cannot log in"
message in TB, and when the dialogue opened to enter a new password, I
entered the brand new Yahoo password and clicked on the "Use Password
Manager" box and then clicked OK.

Still cannot log in... It keeps "timing out" according to TB. A Yahoo
problem or something else?

Help! TB has been flawless up to now. I cannot even find the folder
(not sure why it is so "buried") where passwords are stored to check and
see what password TB is sending to Yahoo now that I told TB to change it.

I am not a "techie" so if anyone can help, please do so in common English.

Thanks a million

Delete the login information for Yahoo in the place described by Al in
Saved Passwords.

The next time you try to access that account TB will request the login
information and you can enter the new log on information. This is a one
time deal and you will not have to do it again.

There is a second way to do this.
Go to the TB location described by Al. And in Saved Passwords find the
old Yahoo login. High light the Yahoo login line and right click.

You are then given the option to edit the information. Edit both the
Username and password so they reflect the new infomation/

Could be a Yahoo problem.

Is your accounts server setting correct.

For POP it is, pop.mail.yahoo.com

For IMAP it is, imap.mail.yahoo.com

I can confirm that Yahoo has problems to day.  I am using IMAP on 2 accounts and logging in is a real problem at the time of writing this message.  I get up to check my office server and I logged in to see of any interesting activities here and I saw your post.  I then checked my TB to see if Yahoo has problems and sure it has.

Good luck. by tomorrow everything should be ok!!

Same problem here. Started a few hours ago. Has been working for
years. 2 Yahoo accounts, both "time out". Webmail access OK.

Same here, despite "allowing insecure apps" in account settings|security
(see on-line tutorials). The problem lies with Yahoo.
Effort to enable two-step verification has also failed, as they seemed
directly strictly at phones/tablets, and the interface does not list
items referred to in various on-line instructions.

Anyone wonder why Yahoo is going broke?

This appears to be a Yahoo(now Verizon)/Mozilla IMAP issue. I have no
problem on the same accounts with POP3, nor do I have any issues on the
same accounts using IMAP with any of my mobile devices or alternate
non-mozilla email clients.

Just sent them an email using webmail.  Let's hope they can sort it out quickly.

Looks like the IMAP and POP servers are down.

<http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/imap.mail.yahoo.com>

<http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/pop.mail.yahoo.com>

Not sure that site is reliable for checking mail servers.

I don't think it is. As mentioned in my previous in this thread, IMAP is
working just fine on my mobile devices using K9 and Blue Mail. I can
send and receive Yahoo IMAP emails on those clients, and I can also
receive the messages in SeaMonkey and Thunderbird (Windws and linux)
using POP3. The issue appears to be how Mozilla clients are interacting
with the Yahoo IMAP servers; I've also tried using Starttls w/o2Auth and
that doesn't seem to work either.

Indeed looks like a Yahoo vs. Thunderbird thing.
Fetchmail still can get mail from imap.mail.yahoo.com.
Yahoo may have blacklisted Thunderbird, who knows?

FWIW, TB & Yahoo still have a problem. However using OS X Sierra's
email app "Mail", I can now get my Yahoo e-mails. Just means keeping
two email apps running same time now, as I have many newsgroups I
watch, and 2 non-Yahoo e-mails. :-(

Create a new Yahoo! mail account, using POP3, not IMAP. Worked here,
though one folder name that I created - ARCHIVE - was not recognized.
Nothing could be dropped into it.

It  looks like that the new owners of Yahoo (VERIZON) have dropped support of IMAP.  In settings you only get pop as shown in this picture:

You can't create ARCHIVE folder because it is used by YAHOO.  Look in your webmail and you'll see Archive folder in there.

Makes senses. ARCHIVES (plural) works. Of course, with POP3, there
will be no synchronization from device to device.

Isn't that a "Server's entry in database has expired" error?

Not completely. On some accounts I'm now getting:

The current operation on 'Inbox' did not succeed. The mail server for
account <snip<@yahoo.com responded: [CLIENTBUG] SELECT Command is not
valid in this state.

Fixed by deleting the IMAP account, restarting Thunderbird & then
recreating the IMAP account.
