Can someone please advise how I can put the tabs below the Menu Bar on
Windows TB 45.x? On my linux install the Menu Bar is on top (example:
<https://s27.postimg.org/yn2fabjyr/Screenshot_from_2017_01_28_12_38_50.png>
) with the tabs below, on my Windows install the tabs are on top.

Can't be done. Tabs were put on top some versions ago. the add-on Noia
Fox includes ability to move tabs to where they belong, but is not
compatible with TB 45.x.

FWIW, I wouldsn't roll back to an earlier version just to get the tabs
lower down.

It's called "opinion" because it's not knowledge.

Thanks for the info, is that only on the Windows version? I won't roll
back, but do find it interesting that the linux version has the menu bar
above the tabs.

So do my Windows versions of 45.7.0, 52.0b1, 53.0a2, and 54.0a1, but by
default the Menu Bar is hidden.

At least they were when I did the 52.0b1 candidate testing.

From the testers email:

A. *Functional testing* in new profile

2. test menus - enable menu bar, View | Toolbars | Menu, mouse over
every menu (File, Edit, View, Go, Message, Tools, Help)

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but isn't that what the Addon "Rise of the
Tools" does?
Raise the Menubar above the Tabs.

Well, a check of 45.7.0 on Windows 10, shows that they are below the Tab Bar.

I guess I should take my name off the testers mailing list. :-[

Disregard my previous post.

I always have the Menu Bar disabled.

As someone else suggested, install the Rise of the Tools extension from
<https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/rise-of-the-tools/>.

Since Thunderbird's menu and tool bars apply to all tabs equally (at
least within my own experience), it makes sense to place the bars above
the tabs. I never understood why that was changed.

Paraphrasing Mark Twain, who was quoting someone else:

alternative truths.

I don't have that one. I looked for "Tabs On Bottom" add-ons, found only
Noia Fox.

Tools > Add-on > Search for rise of the tools

doesn't show that add-on. The website has "... is marked as
experimental...". But I'll try it anyhow.

OK, installed it, worked as soon as installed. Nice.

Thanks.

Problem: it disables the Quick Filter toolbar, which I like. Pity.

Thank you David & Dave! rise-of-the-tools works for me:-)

@ Wolf: I had removed the 'Quick Filter' previously anyway (I prefer the
Ctl-Shift-F search instead) so if it did remove the QF it wouldn't have
bothered me anyway.

Works fine here WITH Quick Filters (on TB38):

I'm not sure on TB45, but if it really breaks Quick Filters, please
email pub...@rsjtdrjgfuzkfg.com and let him know. He told me he could
not work on Ignore Aero for now (which is why I am @ TB38) but maybe he
has a little bit of time to work on Rise of the Tools.

Regards,
