In message list, it is showing only the names of mail-posters.

I also want to see the email-id in the list in the sender
column, particular because I have observed that some spammers
are using the same email-id and just changing the name to post
the spams. I want to identify them by the email-id.

Is it possible to see the email id with/ in place of the name?
How?

[Thunderbird-->Preferences]*-->Advanced [General]
X Show only display name for people in my address book

ensure that you dont have an entry for the message list in the address book.

Not quite what you had in mind, but the best that can be done simply.

*varies by os
Windows
[Tools-->Options]
Linux
[Edit-->Preferences]
Mac as above

changing that doesn't change the display in any way. I am continuing to
get only display name, and not the email id.

If you click on the name in the header list, you will see the email id
If the mail is sent with a display name, thats what you see, I dont know
how to over-ride that
