Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server pop.gmail.com
responded: Username and password not accepted.
tb asks for new password. I haven't changed any password, and using
the same username password I could login to my same gmail a/c in
browser, and my mails are there and pop3 is enabled since years. I
give same password again in tb, but it again repeats the message.
my all other gmail accounts are working in tb and their mails are
getting downloaded. I haven't made any changes in gmail setting nor in
tb setting since months.
This is my main a/c. Not able to download mails. All work held up.
Any solutions?
Thanks.

It could be a temporary Gmail glitch, so try again later. Restarting TB
may also help.
I've seen a similar behavior with AOL IMAP a number of times.

have been waiting since morning. Deleted the account in tb and
recreated. changed all combo's ssl/tsl encryption settings. NOthing is
working, same username and password not accepted message coming.
All work held up.
even smtp outgoing is not working.
I noticed that previously I had created smtp server with
smtp.gmail.com port 587 STARTTLS, that was told by gmail at that time,
whereas now tb created one with smtp.googlemail.com port 465 SSL/TLS.
I wonder whether it is causing the problem.
Is there any software other than tb that I can install and use to get
send my mails in the meantime that I can later on merge into tb's files?
Thanks.

You can use the web interface for the time being. Once TB can connect to
GMail again, you could create an IMAP account, and everything will be
synced.
smtp.googlemail.com port 465 SSL/TLS works fine here.

googling gave me the above link that tells
Now, please follow the steps below to resolve the problem:
Disable all POP clients you're using to read Gmail messages. (If
you use one at work and one at home, please disable both.)
From the computer on which your POP logins are failing, visit
http://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha
Enter your Gmail username and password, and the letters in the
distorted picture.
Once you have successfully logged in, restart your mail client
and try to download your mail."

I did that and entered password and captcha on above
displayunlockcaptcha page. and hit OK. it took sometime and showed a
message that it has been unlocked.
And soon after I found that tb has downloaded all my existing mails to
tb, without me making any change in gmail/ google settings nor in tb
settings. I didn't even have to restart TB. I have set tb to download
automatically in 10 mins, so when it tried that next time, it might
have found the account unlocked and had fetched the mails.
So, members might like to remember this solution, and in future if any
one poses question about facing this problem, you can guide him.
Thanks.

Happened to me a while back. Turned out that my account got hacked and
Google blocked it due to large quantities of email sent from account. Went
to my account on webmail and set a new password and everything was back to
normal.
