Hi. Trying (unsuccessfully to use T.Bird. It tells me that the
password was not recognised and that Tiscali responded that I was an
invalid user! Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I have a friend in the UK who uses TB successfully so there must be
something wrong in your settings. One of the first places to check is
the username ..do they require your full e-mail address as your username?

There must be something wrong with your TB Account Settings for the
Tiscali mail account assigned to you.

On Tools menu, select Account Settings and verify the Account default
identity specifications, and server settings.

You and Tiscali need to work things out between yourselves.

Seriously, who or what is Tiscali and which password are we talking about?

Can you copy your username, password, pop server, and smtp server
information from your old email client to Tbird? Double check the server
settings tab under your Tiscali account for username (does it require
the @ suffix?), password, pop server name and pop port (default 110).

Once you can download mail, set your smtp server in the smtp account.
You might need to logon to your smtp server, check your old client settings.

I've checked that - they require the full e-mail address. I went on the
Tiscali troubleshooting page and followed the steps.

If you are logged into Tiscali webmail it will not let you access the
account from an outside app, so make sure you are logged out
