I had to reinstall windows 7 and all my programs.
But now Thunderbird 45.7.1 won't start as I open my computer.

Any suggestions ?

Just for kicks, go grab Thunderbird Portable and let it extract to your
desktop. See if it will run.

Have you in some way messed up the link to the profile? It may appear
to "not start" if you have changed the profile to some other folder
other than the install default.

What do you mean by "as I open my computer"

If you expect Thunderbird to start automatically you need copy the
Thunderbird start icon into your start folder.

If you mean you click on the icon and nothing appears to happen please
clarify your report.

As for the profile of thunderbird, I did move all messages to my
Data HD when I first installed Thunderbird. But that's what I had for
years with no problems.

When Windows first start Thunderbird would also start and get all
messages if any. That's how it was working last week before I had to
reinstall Windows7. I've check the start menu and there was no link to
Thunderbird.
But even creating a link didn't start Thunderbird. That's strange!

I even tried to look at my previous installation with Acronis TI
but unfortunately I was denied access to the Application Data folder.

Did you go into Thunderbird and point the program to the profile?

When you transferred the profile did you transfer the profile folder,
and the Profile.ini file. The profile.ini file directs Thunderbird the
proper profile folder.

Hi Keith

No neither the profile folder or profile.ini file where move.
I've install "Minimize on start and close" which is working great when
Thunderbird has already start.

Mysterious situation :-(

copy your profile.ini file here so we can see it.
...../appdata/roaming/thunderbird/profile.ini

[Profile0]
Name=default
IsRelative=1
Path=Profiles/lhah9oj1.default
Default=1

Found the solution!!!

Thank to everybody and a special mention to Millwood.

Again I explored my previous installation and found out that I was
missing the right folder to insert the Thunderbird link.

Instead of : c:\users\...\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\start
Menu\Program\startup

I was using: c:\users\...\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\start
Menu\Program

Missing the startup folder.

I really appreciated your support
