How do I disable new mail notification popups on Mac (10.8.3) when using Thunderbird 22 (beta)?

This older thread suggests Preferences/Options > General > When new messages arrive > Show an alert, but that option doesn't exist in Thunderbird 22:

It exists in mine on Linux. As does "Play a Sound".

Using the preferences route, select the Advance tab and Click the Config
Edit button.

Flter on the word biff and look for:
mail.biff.show_alert
Clicking on this pref should toggle it between true and false. Or right
click and pick toggle from the menu.

I don't know about Mac, but in Windows that should be
"Double-clicking".

By default there is no mail notification "popup" in TB-Mac but a bounce
of the TB icon in the Dock which shows a red dot with the new messages
count.
You can disable the visual and/or the acoustic alert in Thunderbird
Preferences -> General -> When new messages arrive by
Unchecking "Animate the Dock icon" and/or "Play a sound".
0 new messages
