hi, does anyone know if you have set up Gmail to use pop to recieve and
smtp to send - does it play nice with a Hotmail account set up to use
the WebMail extension?

The reason being is that, in the past (a couple of months ago) i set up
Webmail and it tried to send gmail messages via the localhost settings
for hotmail as they were set as defualt.

I need to know if Webmail wont try and use the smtp settings for Gmail
to send hotmail replies.

no need to use Webmail extension as Gmail supports POP/SMTP
goto Tools>Account Settings>Add Account>Gmail

Webmail sets up its own smtp server. I want to know if that SMTP server
will get in the way of Gmail's smtp settings.

There will be no problem.
Please note , after creating Gmail account and SMTP for Gmail , goto
Tools>Account Settings>Gmail Account ,
outgoing Server (SMTP) : "Select_SMTP_of_Gmail_that_you_have_created"
