Group by sort open by default

I like to group message by tags, but each time I view a folder, the tag
groups are all collapsed, with no way to tell if there are new messages
inside. Note that pressing G has no effect on the view.

Is there any way to start with message groups open by default?

I'm using Thunderbird 2.0.0.9 on Windows Vista Business.

I use that too, but tried only now with tags as u said
It opens collapsed, then hit * key and should expand all. Not quite ok
as still should scroll through all to see..

I wonder if creating a custom view, but is not the same. That works for
me when many new mail and wanna see only those new with a certain tag or
group of tags. Can develop further on this if is a more specific action
that u are looking for.

I didn't know about the * shortcut. \ and * seem to work differently for
e-mail tags and for newsgroup threads. A shame the default cannot be set.

view - sort by - date /ascending / threaded...

AND

view - threads - all - expand all threads...

is what works for me...

and btw, G is working in a more delicate way, like select a sorter
(date, tag..) than hit G
it seams to be a bit confusing, cause if just hit G nothing happens..
anyway, not related to collapse/expand..
