I completely lost it; following
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Filters_%28Thunderbird%29 I should have that .dat
file
Tried a dozen times, but no filename of that found.
I installed TB for everyone (not for a singel user). Can someone tell me
where to find my messagefilters for I want to copy it to another PC...

msgFilterRules.dat is in the Profile[1]>>{Mail|News}>>[account]

[1] For profile location see:
http://www.mozilla.org/support/thunderbird/edit#profile

Windows users should also see:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/hiddenfiles.mspx

it should be located in your profile folder - when searching, make sure
to search including hidden files, which it is...

in TB , goto Tools>Options>Advanced>General>Config Editor
type 'mail.root.none' filter
'value' of this pref. holds the path of your profile folder.
goto that folder using windows explorer.
open Mail folder
open folder of your mail account
you will find a file named 'msgFilterRules.dat' .
This file contains all filter settings of that account.

Thanks for your replies, I am happy again:-)
I have this idea: would it be possible to define the messagefilter file as
an URL or LAN location?
Then I can use it everywhere I am, on any computer!?

I don't know how far the Summer of Code 2006 stuff got
(<http://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Summer_Of_Code_2006>), but you could
look at <http://kb.mozillazine.org/Roaming_profile> for a hack.

Alternately, SM (IIRC) /does/ have support for roaming profiles. . . .
