In TB taking a copy of the address book for updating TB in another TB
location is easily done but where is the file for the message filters
located. I have looked but can't seem to find the file.

There is a .dat file for each account, and another one in the folder for
each group. It will have the same name as the account/group, with .dat
added.

Thanks to the 3 of you for responding with your thoughts. I have 23
accounts, the local folder & 3 news groups and when I went looking for
the msgfilterrules.dat I did find 1 in my IMAP folder that was 27 bytes
in size as well as a 27 byte copy in my mail/Local Folders folder.
Neither are large enough to contain all the filters I have in place. I
also located an msgfilterrules.dat file for each account but they also
are 27 bytes in size. One of the accounts has several dozen filters
while most have only a few. The "same size fits all" syndrome does not
appear reasonable when the very large filter file is looked for. I will
continue the search later but wanted to provide some feedback before
going out. The kb location does provide a great deal of information &
will be a handy kb to have on file but when I checked into the
import/export add-on the two comments give me a bit of concern. Before
trying that I will make a full copy of my present tb into a safe
location & then give it a try. If it messes up or does not work as
expected or crashes the system the copy can always be restored.

Thanks again folks & I will post back for others when a solution has
been worked out.

As I said, the filters are a text file called, for example,
"mozilla.general.dat"

There is also a msgfilterrules.dat file, which appears to be just a
placeholder for the message filter log.
